This month, we're celebrating our annual literary issue with the launch of a Cud short fiction competition!

The winner will receive a $150 gift certificate to Amazon.com.

You may write a piece of short fiction in any genre or style.

But- the story MUST begin with the following line: 

"The cows were stirring. Something wasn't right outside."

Contest Information & Rules:

• Deadline for entries is 11.59PM EST on Feb 15, 2012.
• ONLINE ENTRIES ONLY. Submit your entry to feedback@thecud.com.au as a .doc file in MS Word Format along with your name and contact details. Postal entries will not be accepted.
• Word length: No fewer than 700 and no more than 1500 words maximum. No exceptions.
• One entry only per person.
• Prize- $150 gift certificate to Amazon.com
• Decisions of the judges are final.
• The winner will be notified by email after March 15th and their winning essay published in the May 2012 issue of The Cud.
• If the judges deem fit, two runner-up entries will also be published in the May 2012 issue of The Cud.
