(Aug 2022) Ezy Reading: |
As the flames from our firepit
danced shadows upon his face,
the giant set his beer down,
leaned over to the side of the porch
and spat-
a thick drip of tobacco juice
rolled in the dirt
as if molasses.
His voice low, he paused at every word with careful measure:
“There are five things in life
of which a man’s appetite
remains forever unquenched.
Of which he can consume
an unlimited amount-
never sated,
never full.
This is set in stone. Not profound, but simple truth.
And they are:
Liquor
Tobacco
Ammunition
Gasoline
and
Pizza.
This is my truth. And we need more beer.”
Ezy Reading is out every month.
