(Feb 2015) Gifts of Hellenism |
Some will leave their name brilliant
αnd bright like the sun where they live
αnd always strive and struggle
to see their dreams realised.
They cannot live otherwise.
It is deep within their being.
Their heart withers and burns–
aching, lest "Hellenism" be lost.
Night and day in struggle and in battle
continuously searching, never ceasing.
You too are one with great strength.
Oh, so fortunate are the Greeks who live
in that so distant country
that, nearby, they have such gifts!
Translated from the original in Greek, written by Antonis G. Vazintaris of Toronto, Canada as a dedication to Professor George Kanarakis, Charles Sturt University, Australia.
