Hunter S. Thompson on Finding Your Purpose and Living a Meaningful Life

From the folks over at the Farnam Street blog (by way of Letters of Note) comes this letter from 1958 penned by Hunter S. Thompson to his friend Hume Logan in response to a request for life advice. Though Thompson was only 22 years of age at the time, his intelligence, wit and wisdom shine through in a most thoughtful letter.

To point: "...no one HAS to do something he doesn’t want to do for the rest of his life. But then again, if that’s what you wind up doing, by all means convince yourself that you HAD to do it. You’ll have lots of company."

Enjoy.
