Poetry From The Cud:
Turning Back Around
Ewan Kane

In Spring it poured
Something about ‘April showers’
Waited to turn that corner
Waited for you to turn back around

By June you were here
Again we reconciled
Reacquainted in that summer sunshine
Healed in happiness

August we fell into bad habits
Stifling heat and bitter words
Couldn’t escape the past
Digging up old bones

Fall became the broken record
Weathered by our limits
Gave way to bittersweet farewells
We knew we had to make

There’s something here, for sure
But we’re enemies unto ourselves
So again I wait to turn that corner
Wait for you to turn back around
