Values from a slower past
Haste and greed make vanish fast
Cuttagee Bridge is such a case
Many bush folk want it retained
A bridge like this makes us all slow
Drivers here must go with the flow
They give each other a friendly wave
Hoping their journey will be safe

Bush values you see if you sit a while
Bush values you feel if you take your time
Cuttagee Bridge is still in its prime
Cuttagee Bridge is a sign of the times

Bridges of wood with just one lane
Keep us to a speed that’s sane
They aren’t meant for weight or speed
They symbolise what we believe
Folk from the city like to visit
Often say that the bush is pleasant
They are welcome any time
But must take us as they find

Timber bridges let out some clanks
As you cross their solid planks
It is like their thanks they say
As they wish us on our way
Too much heritage is for sale
Think what the next generation will say
Animals are safer on this old road
Care and respect is what they’re owed

Keep concrete well away from here
Heavy traffic should not come near
This focal point can last for years
This priceless bridge we hold dear
With country values do not toy
Slow down walk lightly and enjoy
Let your crossing be in peace
O’er the bridge of Cuttagee
